1 x 405m x 36mm 8×26 G1960 RHOL QS816V Teufelberger Hoist Rope
- Magnetise rope using TST Magnetiser.
- Perform MFL (Magnetic Flux Leakage) wire rope inspection to 2 x luffing ropes using TST Flaw Detector.
- Clean and lubricate ropes using Viper Rope lubricator complete with cleaner dyes and VPG-0 Viper wire rope lubricant.
3 runs were done on each rope from luffed down position to fully luffed up.
1 run to magnetise, 2 runs to test.
The one rope was cleaned and lubed while testing the other then changed over.
The TST units were installed on 1 rope and the cleaner and lubricator on the other at the loader apex, approximately 50m above the wharf.
One rope was cleaned and lubed while testing the other rope.
This left 2 falls of rope on each side of the loader (approx. 24m each fall) from boom to apex termination which did not run through the system. These had to accessed by crane workbox at a height of 75m and done by hand with Jason testing and Simon lubing.
The work was completed successfully well within the allocated time for shutdown.
